GREENSBORO -- Police today identified the two men killed in a shooting early Sunday at 1600 W. Lee St.

The victims were Born God Supreme Thompson, 26, and Shuntae Lamont Watson, 26, police stated in a news release. The case remains under investigation; no suspect information has been released.

On Sunday about 1:30 a.m., officers responded to Jabs Ultra Bar at 1600 W. Lee St. regarding shots fired. They found two gunshot victims outside the back of the club. Both died at the hospital.

The two deaths were among four homicides that occurred this weekend in Greensboro.

A 26-year-old Tyler man pleaded guilty Monday to raping his co-worker.

Master Jeremyha Lewis admitted to sexually assaulting the 18-year-old woman and faces two to 20 years in prison.

Lewis, who was scheduled to go trial this week in 114th District Judge Cynthia Stevens Kent's court, instead pleaded guilty to the second-degree felony.

Assistant Smith County District Attorney Jason Parrish said the victim had consensual sex with another co-worker in the freezer of the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant, located at 2215 W. Gentry Parkway, on Feb. 18.

When Lewis found out, he also tried to have sex with her in the restaurant's pantry. When she said, "no," he raped her, Parrish said.

Tyler Police were called at about 10 p.m. and responded to collect evidence. The victim was examined at a local hospital and Lewis' DNA was found on her, he said. Lewis was arrested for the offense on Feb. 22.

The defendant, who was represented by LaJuanda Lacy, will be sentenced by Judge Kent on Dec. 19.

All Things Considered, April 24, 2008 · Kenyan parents are no different from parents anywhere else in the world necessarily, but they do love to name their kids after headlines. There are John Kennedys and Winston Churchills and now even Kofi Annans being born.

So when it came time for Karen Achieng Okumu to pick out a name for her third child, who she just knew would be a boy, she thought and thought. It was 1997, and this was an unexpected pregnancy for her and her husband. Okumu wanted a name with some miles on it — something road-worthy, like a good Buick — but she also wanted a name with a future.

So, for those reasons and a few others, Okumu brought yet another child into this world called Bill Clinton.

Well, Bill Clinton Okumu, to be more specific.

And what does Bill Clinton Okumu want to be when he grows up?

"I want to be president," he says.

What's in a Name?

Right now, the options seem limitless for the good-looking 11-year-old who wants to lead Kenya someday. He has a nice smile and a lovely personality.

Perhaps Karen Okumu was something of a mensch. Maybe by strength of personality, she willed her child to be a son of destiny.

But not necessarily a Democrat. The boy's father, Michael Marungu, says his wife would have named the boy "George Bush" or "Herbert Hoover" or even "Calvin Coolidge" if the timing had been right.

"There was no particular attachment," says Marungu, a schoolteacher. "There was nothing like that. It was just associating herself with the president of America, not knowing that there would be another president in the next few years. But, at that time, the president was Bill Clinton."

Could it be that certain names really do make people ambitious? Between 1893 and 1896, 11 members of the U.S. Congress were called "George Washington" something-or-another. Their mothers probably wanted them to be president, too.

"It has really given him some light," Marungu says. "Actually, he's very bright. When people just hear that he's called Billy, they just associate him with a very different person — not just a simple man."

Bill Clinton's two brothers are deferring to his presidential ambitions. Boniface, 16, says he wouldn't dream of dreaming to be president — because that's where his little brother is headed.

"I know he can do it; he's courageous, he's humble and polite and he's academic," Boniface says.

Jason, Bill Clinton's 13-year-old brother, wants to be a soccer star — which could probably make him more famous than being president.

A Place to Believe In?

The family is ensconced in one of those neighborhoods that would make an important point of reference on the campaign trail. Bill Clinton lives, as most black people in Nairobi do, in a slum area — muddy and crowded and loud.

It's an all-too-common phenomenon in Kenya, where there's an embarrassment of pretty houses and charming bungalows for expatriates and the homegrown elite, but few options for the Kenyan professional whose salary can't compete.

The neighborhood is called Riruta Satellite. For all intents and purposes, it's a place called Hope.

And Bill Clinton has a plan for what he would do as president.

"I would help other people who are needy, and give the people who don't have houses, I'd make houses for them. And build the country to be good, so that people cannot make chaos," he says.

So Bill Clinton wants to make a better tomorrow. But right now, he has to finish the fifth grade. His mother, who died three years ago, would want that.

Who knows what made Karen Okumu pull that particular name out of the ether for this particular boy? But in "Bill Clinton," she somehow made a name for herself, too. Even without meeting her, it seems clear that she was interesting, funny and ambitious.

ORT WORTH -- The man suspected of shooting into a birthday party Sunday night, killing two people and injuring four others, was arrested Tuesday afternoon after leading police on a short chase.

Erick Daniel "Truman" Davila, 21, was arrested on a capital murder warrant at the Hidden Valley Estates in the 800 block of Heights Drive in the Woodhaven neighborhood.

Fort Worth police had been watching Davila at the nearby Copper Creek Apartments, when he got in his Mazda sedan and left. Police followed in an unmarked vehicle, and Davila tried to elude them, driving into Hidden Valley Estates and hitting two parked cars before doubling back toward the entrance. He then jumped out of his car, and began running, tossing a pistol into some bushes.

He was caught after a short foot chase.

The shooting occurred Sunday night at an apartment in the 5700 block of Anderson Street in southeast Fort Worth.

About a dozen children were outside the apartment when someone fired 11 shots in their direction. After everyone rushed into the apartment, the bullets began flying again, whizzing through the window as the adults frantically tried to account for everybody and determine who had been shot, said Talisha Stevenson, who was at the party.

Annette Stevenson, 48, who had herded many of the children into a bedroom, was shot and killed.

More than six hours later at Cook Children's Medical Center, her granddaughter Queshawn Stevenson, 5, also succumbed to her injuries: gunshots wounds to her neck and stomach.

Four others -- the birthday girl, her 10-year-old sister, their 12-year-old cousin and a 35-year-old cousin who had just stopped by to visit -- suffered injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, police said.

Nahtica Stevenson, who turned 9 on Monday, was treated for graze wounds to her leg and released, but she remained at Cook Children’s to be with her sister, CashMo’nae Stevensons, and family.

CashMo’nae suffered gunshot wounds to her arm, shoulder and hand -- breaking her wrist and elbow -- and underwent surgery Monday afternoon, Talisha Stevenson said. She said the 12-year-old was treated for a graze wound to the head.

She said the injured adult, identified by police as Sheila Moblin, is a cousin who had just happened to stop by to visit with Annette Stevenson.

Police say they have not identified a motive.

Police are reportedly questioning a suspect this morning in a Brooklyn shootout -- that left a nine-year-old boy fighting for his life.

Police sources tell the Daily News detectives are questioning a 20-year-old man who showed up on surveillance video near the shooting scene.

Shots rang out Monday night at the Weeksville Houses in Crown Heights. Police say one gunman on foot fired at a man on a bike, who shot back.

Sham-Shawan Kelly was outside his building at the time. He was hit in the forehead by a stray bullet. He is said to be in critical condition at Kings County Hospital.

Police are urging witnesses to come forward.

"This was 9:10 at night. (Dare I ask why a 9 year old boy is loitering the streets at 9:10 pm?:confused: ) We believe that there were more people in the street or, certainly, some people in the street that could give us additional information," said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.

"You guys that did it, turn yourself in, man," said the victim's father, John Kelly. "It doesn't make any sense man. You see this stuff all the time on the news, you never thought it'd happen to you, but it happened to me. I don't want to see another kid or another family to go through this ignorance and this stupidity like we're going through."

The NYPD is offering a $12,000 reward for anyone with information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Conn. cops: Woman tried to use 911 as taxi service

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Police in one Connecticut city have a warning for nightclub patrons: Don't call 911 for a ride home.

New Haven police say that's what 28-year-old Quandria (KWAN'-dree-ah) Bailey did, calling the emergency line six times to request a ride from a nightclub back to her Meriden home.

A Brooklyn public-school teacher was charged with assault after she shoved and punched a 15-year-old girl in the face yesterday, cops and witnesses said.

The student, Tytahnisha Moulterie, walked into her math classroom at PS 335 in Crown Heights to retrieve a book when the teacher, Ruth Romain, put her hand on her sweater, the teen said.
