Kids are brown phenotype, but are Br/Bl genotype. They can still pass on the blue eye gene. My sister has brown eyes, her husband has brown eyes, two out of their 3 kids have blue eyes.

Why do they have to be heterozygote? Even if the mother is part white, it doesn't mean she is one. She may be homozygous brown. I've never seen even a heterozygous non-white and a white produce blue-eyed kids. Hazel, yes, on occasion.
