When a small town has two men with the same name, it typically doesn`t cause any problems. But in Marionville, Missouri, two men share a name but very different opinions. And this is causing problems for local liquor store owner, Glenn D. Miller, who some residents are getting confused with a write-in congressional candidate and self proclaimed white supremacist also by the name of Glenn Miller who’s also from Marionville.
The confusion between the two Glenn Miller`s is driving some customers away from a business. Glenn D. Miller wants people to know he doesn`t share the other Miller`s beliefs. He says "Whenever the name Glen Miller comes up people don`t think it`s me rather than him." Miller also says he’s upset because his liquor store business is suffering.
"I`ve lost a few customers because they have associated me with his campaign for congress and some of the other ads, he`s put out and they don`t like that." says Glenn D. Miller.
He`s cleared up some the confusion. But Miller says others don`t bother to ask. He says, "Someone he has offended in some way reported me to the liquor control." Fortunately, agents with the liquor control board realize he is not the Glenn Miller running for congress and publishing articles on white supremacy.
And he hopes he can continue to clear up confusion in his small town and throughout the Ozarks. KOLR 10 did try to contact the Glenn Miller who’s running for congress but repeated calls to his home were unanswered.
Both Millers did meet for the first time last week. Glenn D. Miller says the other Glenn Miller was very gracious and apologetic for all the controversy surrounding him and he says he will work to put a disclaimer on his ads and political campaigns to help people tell them apart.
