Naked students fell from balcony escaping sex attacker, police fear

A NAKED young Asian student fell to her death as she tried to escape a feared sex attack and hostage drama, police say.
Police are now investigating the theory that fear of sexual assault was the motive for the fatal leap, which also left a young man seriously injured after falling from a third-floor balcony in Sydney on Sunday.
It has now been revealed four students were held hostage in an apartment for an hour by a man armed with a knife before two of them jumped naked from the balcony.
An 18-year-old Chinese woman died after the plunge from the third floor balcony of the Sydney apartment on to concrete.
Her 19-year-old Korean boyfriend suffered a fractured pelvis, fractured vertebrae and two broken legs.
He is in the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.
Police Superintendent Luke Freudenstein (:lmao:) said the armed intruder had apparently randomly followed the woman through the apartment block's security entrance about 12.30pm (AEST) yesterday.
Police insiders suspect a knife-wielding intruder to the apartment intended or had already committed sexual assault, driving the teenage woman and man to leap from the balcony.
It has now emerged that there were two more women inside the unit at the time of the attack.
One of them revisited the scene of the horror as witnesses spoke out today, still stunned by the ordeal.
The attacker, who was of dark-skinned appearance and aged in his 30s, is set to face murder charges if and when he is caught.
Meanwhile, police gave a press conference early this afternoon to release more horrific details of the attack.
Superintendent Luke Freudenstein said the two students - with their flatmate, a 20-year-old Chinese student - were inside the unit and had left their front door ajar for a fourth person, a female visitor, who they buzzed in to the security complex about 12.35pm.
The man followed her in, put a knife to her throat and took her up to the unit, pushing his way in.
The man was inside the unit for an hour, with police not contacted until a 000 call was made around 1.40pm, about the man and woman having plunged from the balcony.
It appears they were trying to climb to safety when they jumped, or fell.
When asked about a motive for the attack, Supt Freudenstein said police had officially not ruled anything in or out.
However he said it did appear to be a random attack, and police were currently viewing CCTV footage from the front of the building.
