By inviting Iran's Ahmadinejad to speak, Bollinger bungled

An open letter to Lee Bollinger, president of Columbia University:

This letter I am writing is filled with many questions that defy explanation. I have heard your reasons for inviting a ruthless dictator  to speak at your university. The Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is not an American citizen, so I cannot comprehend why you would say he has the right to free speech.:eek:

Do you really think that the students at Columbia University do not know what this madman stands for? If that is true, then your students do not belong at Columbia in that they are regretfully ignorant. Maybe you think that they play video games all day and do not read newspapers or watch the news programs on TV.

How can you explain away the fact that the ROTC program cannot be on your campus, yet you INVITE a ruthless dictator that is actually killing the very soldiers that are fighting to keep us free from tyrants like Ahmadinejad? You afford him a higher status than the soldiers that are fighting for you and your family. A longtime friend of mine's son died in the twin towers on Sept. 11. What a slap in the face to them and other families that lost someone they loved to this ruthless madman and others like him.

Why did you not invite some family members of those who died in the 9/11 tragedy? Let your students see the heartache these people have suffered and will suffer every day of their lives. These loved ones and their families are citizens of THIS country and deserve to be heard, not a ruthless madman who would like to see every citizen of the United States die.

Yes, you did open with some harsh statements toward Ahmadinejad. But did you really think he would respond with the truth? All he wanted and did accomplish was to spread his propaganda to those foolish enough to believe it.

When you invite someone like Ahmadinejad to be guest speaker, there is a certain legitimacy you give him and others of his ilk. You give him a status that he does not deserve to have.

The only word I can think of regarding your decision to invite Ahmadinejad to speak is SHAME! Columbia University will now have a very large stain on who and what it stands for. How foolish for someone who prides himself as a scholar and leader to make such a huge blunder. It speaks volumes.

They should ask the people in a poll "Do you think Ahmadinejad had something to do with 911?" and a lot of people will answer "yes". My guess is about 25% would answer that.

I think I like best the bit about non-American citizens not having the right to free speech. This woman is a Republican party precinct delegate.
