False. Pederasty was a common practice by the Athenian/Classical period, but (de iure) anal intercourse was frowned upon. In the popular perception, this particular period and its excesses have somehow been conflated with *all* of Ancient Greece throughout *all* of its time periods - a perception poorly supported by evidence.

It's pretty evident from the art of Classical Greece that there was a serious epidemic of male narcissism and homoeroticism then, but there was still no concept of homosexuality as an identity.

As I've stressed *repeatedly*, judging from the literature that survives from the Homeric period, practice of male-male intercourse was frowned upon and punished severely. Now, you might make some inference from that and say that maybe they punished it precisely because it was widespread, but that would remain only speculation.
