CBS News) People taking calcium supplements may be increasing their chances of a heart attack, according to a new study.
Researchers tracked nearly 24,000 adults in Europe across 11 years for the study published in Heart, a medical journal, and concluded that those who took calcium supplements had an 86 percent greater chance of having a heart attack. Their conclusion was that "increasing calcium intake from diet might not confer significant cardiovascular benefits, while calcium supplements, which might raise (heart disease) risk, should be taken with caution." http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-204_162-...heart-attacks/
