Viking Metal, Black Metal, Death Metal, and other genres that may or may not involve "cookie monster" vocals?
Just trying to get an idea of how many Amon Amarth or Dimmu Borgir fans are here

I like some early "proto" Black and Death metal. Venom, Possessed, Mercyful Fate. The first two or so Obituary and Death albums. As far as contemporary shit goes, Nile is the only group I like. Ithyphallic sucks, though.

Sorry. Never could stand any of it. I have the first few Venom albums, but that was back when they were mostly kidding and trying to out-Sabbath Sabbath.
Once the utterly humorless Scandinavians got into the act, in scary face-paint and leather trousers, dragging poor old Wotan in with them, I clicked the 'off' switch.

But to be honest, I'm not too impressed with a lot of their new stuff. In fact, I think it pretty much sucks. I think the metal bands of the 90s were much more intense. However, I must exclude Finland from this. Everything that comes out of Finland seems to be golden in terms of metal. However, you can't ever go wrong with Burzum!!
