Everex, whose $199 gOS-based gPC desktop sold out at Wal-Mart in record time late last year, has now introduced a gOS-based 2lb ultra-mobile laptop that it plans to sell at Wal-Mart for $399 starting January 25.

It also includes Firefox, Skype, Facebook and OpenOffice 2.3.

If you're not a developer, game geek, or tech-head, that spec pretty much covers what anyone ever needs.

A 7" screen is kinda small for me. It would be good for little people though.

I'm still trying to figure out how the can opener works...

Is the OS something a Luddite like myself could use?

That's true, I must have skimmed by that part.

I was thinking more about the (100% free!) software environment. It's time we took back the desktop from the M$ deathgrip. Ubuntu is a really smooth and accessible path to Linux for those used to Windoze.

I read this story a few days ago. This is what the notebook really looks like.

The CPU sucks big time, but the HD seems big enough this time. I hope they decide to sell it over here as well.

'God', 'immortality of the soul', 'redemption', 'the Beyond', all of them concepts to which I have given no attention and no time, not even as a child—perhaps I was never childish enough for it?—I have absolutely no knowledge of atheism as an outcome of reasoning, still less as an event: with me it is obvious by instinct. I am too inquisitve, too questionable, too high spirited to rest content with a crude answer. God is a crude answer, a piece of indelicacy against us thinkers—fundamentally even a crude prohibition to us: you shall not think!... ~Nietzsche

That's what I was wondering. In particular if it would be a hassle to run wirelessly on the LAN I've got in my house. If it wouldn't take much effort...I want one. Kinda sucks making the hard choice to either be at my desk pissing away hours on message boards or being where my son is playing.
